Coke and limestone are industrial raw materials. Through chemical reactions, they can be used to prepare calcium carbide, which, after undergoing a series of process steps, produces BDO (1,4-butanediol) raw material.
BDO is a raw material for organic and fine chemical industries, and it is also one of the fastest-growing chemical products in the world. It is widely used in solvents, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, plasticizers, pesticides, foam artificial leather, fibers, and engineering plastics. Additionally, BDO is a primary raw material for degradable plastics. The promotion and application of BDO are of great significance in addressing the global challenge of "white pollution". Today, we will take you to visit the integrated project of the new material industry chain that has been put into production.
In the central control room of the factory, the large screen displays real-time images of various sections and workshops, as well as operational parameters of production equipment, with staff members occasionally operating the keyboard and mouse. Leveraging the advantages of the coal chemical and acetylene chemical industry clusters, a complete industrial chain of "coal - electricity - limestone - calcium carbide - BDO - biodegradable plastics - biodegradable polyester products" has been established. Currently, the factory has built the largest production base in China for the entire industrial chain of BDO and degradable polyester products, with an annual output of 380,000 tons of BDO.
In order to break through the bottleneck of downstream applications in the BDO industry and enhance technological innovation capabilities, the first BDO industry technology innovation center in China was unveiled and established in our factory in August this year.
After the establishment of the BDO industry technology innovation center, it will focus on innovation and research in areas such as the utilization of BDO products in industry and daily production and life, acetylene chemical industry, bio-based materials, environmentally friendly polymer materials, and hydrogen energy equipment manufacturing. At the same time, the center will collaborate to promote key technology research and development, the transformation and application of scientific and technological achievements, and strive to build an innovation chain, industrial chain, and value chain that deeply integrates production, education, research, and application, in order to fully enhance the technological level and core competitiveness of the BDO industry.
